Frequently Asked Questions

Which Meyers' products are suitable for vegetarians?

All Meyers’ tablet and liquid multivitamins are suitable for vegetarians.

Which Meyers' products are suitable for vegans?

At present Meyers do not have any multivitamin supplements suitable for vegans.

What is the source of gelatin in Meyers' capsule products?

The capsules contain bovine, pharmaceutical grade gelatin of German origin, which is obtained from veterinary certified herds. Manufacturers belonging to the Gelatin Manufacturers Federation of Europe (GME), under strict manufacturing conditions, produce the gelatin.

Are any of Meyers capsule, tablet or liquid products Halal or Koshered?

At present they are not.

Can the capsule or tablet products be taken by small children?

Most Meyers’ products are for specific requirements such as pregnancy, menopause and are therefore not recommended for children. Because of the size of some capsules and tablets, we do not recommend they be taken by children under the age of 12, unless specified otherwise under the directions for use.

Do Meyers have any multivitamins suitable for children?

The following products are suitable for men and women of all ages, but in particular for infants and small children:

  • Calcimax
  • Kidicare
  • Colicaid

Is there a particular time of the day when it is best to take multivitamin supplements?

Scientific opinion varies, but it is often thought the evening is the best time, because this is when the body’s mineral levels fluctuate most. However, it is important to ensure the supplements are taken with your largest meal of the day to maximise nutrient absorption, whether this is your lunch or evening meal.

Is it normal for my urine to change colour after taking your products, ie. bright green/yellow?

Multivitamin products can cause brightly coloured urine in some cases but this is perfectly harmless, and often due to the actual colour of some of the nutrients e.g. vitamin B2 and folic acid. However, if discolouration occurs every time water is passed, and also when the product is stopped for a couple of days, it may be worth seeking medical advice to ensure there is no other underlying cause.

Can I take your capsule products with breakfast?

We recommend that all our multivitamin and mineral capsule supplements be taken with your largest meal of the day, on a full stomach, to ensure maximum absorption. This can also help prevent cases of mild nausea, which can be experienced by some people if the supplements are taken on an empty stomach or with a light meal. Breakfast is often considered a ‘light meal’ e.g. a bowl of cereals, or just a couple of slices of toast, or a yoghurt etc., so is usually considered not substantial enough.

Is it necessary to take the capsules and tablets with a full glass of water?

Swallowing the capsules or tablets with plenty of water or orange juice is important to ensure they are washed down the throat properly.

Can the tablets or capsules be taken with a warm drink such as tea or coffee?

It is not recommended to take the capsules with a warm drink because this can accelerate the capsule or tablet disintegration process, causing them to become sticky. This may cause the capsules to release the vitamin and mineral powdered contents prematurely in the throat.

Can I use more than one of Meyers multivitamin and mineral products together at the same time?

While it may not be harmful, it is not recommended to take more than one multivitamin and mineral supplement at the same time, because this may lead to crossover and unnecessary doubling up of certain nutrients. We recommend that you select the product, which represents the main reason you wish to take a multivitamin or contact Meyers for further advice first. Generally, Calcimax is the only supplement, which can be used alongside any of Meyers multivitamin supplements. Otherwise two products e.g. Menopace and Premence can be taken on alternate days.
